PortaOne announces its latest long-life maintenance release, MR80, comprising six software builds to be released over the next 11 months. The focus in MR80 is mainly on system stability, bug fixes and enhancements to existing functionalities, the most important of which are listed below.
SMS processing via Protei SMSC
Integration with Protei SMSC allows real-time charging for SMS exchanges on any mobile network (GSM, 3G, 4G) via Diameter (Ro). PortaBilling® can also be connected to Protei SMSC via SMPP (using PortaSIP®), enabling SMS notifications about quota limits or payment alerts to be delivered to customers.

Fallback call delivery in dual-version PortaSwitch®
The dispatching SBC uses the call information (i.e. destination and source numbers) to determine which system in dual-version PortaSwitch will process an incoming request. If the dispatching SBC cannot find the target system (e.g. sophisticated translation rules must be applied to the numbers), it now sends the request to one of the systems in dual-version PortaSwitch®. For example, if customers have not yet been migrated to the alter-ego system, the main system can be configured to accept all requests. PortaBilling® in the main system then locates the call recipient and performs the appropriate routing.
