PortaOne announces the release of the new PortaSwitch® MR79.
Highlights in MR79-0
- Traffic management with Sandvine DPI
- USSD self-care
- Satellite Internet provisioning via Newtec Dialog
- API to transfer airtime among users
Traffic management with Sandvine DPI
CSPs can now control user connectivity, ensure service quality (e.g. guarantee bandwidth for premium customers) and improve network security (e.g. detect and block cyber threats) on networks with dynamic IP allocation via PortaBilling® and Sandvine DPI (Deep Packet Inspection). PortaBilling® controls user balance and service availability while Sandvine DPI shapes network traffic and monitors the user’s activity according to the applied access policy.
USSD self-care
Now your mobile users can request information (e.g. current balance) or take action (e.g. activate a top-up voucher) by sending USSD messages. The Protei USSD gateway communicates with PortaBilling® via the API to retrieve the requested data and then returns the USSD response to the subscriber’s phone. This improves the customer experience and reduces the administrative load.
Satellite Internet provisioning via Newtec Dialog
You can now launch prepaid satellite Internet access with real-time traffic control in partnership with the Newtec Dialog platform. This allows you to provide services to users in remote areas and thereby extend your customer base. PortaBilling® automates service activation and management in Newtec Dialog, which reduces administrative load and helps prevent revenue leakage. PortaBilling® retrieves the amount of data transferred to perform quota control, real-time charging and display service usage statistics on the web GUI.
API to transfer airtime among users
To meet the legal requirements in some countries (e.g. ICASA regulations towards service provisioning in South Africa), CSPs can now enable end users to transfer their airtime (e.g. MBs, minutes, SMSs, etc.) to each other. To make this happen, CSPs develop a custom portal that communicates with PortaBilling® via the API. In so doing, end users can flexibly administer the airtime they have paid for. CSPs guarantee service quality according to the active regulations.
