Many great tools are out there to help us stay connected and productive as more remote teams are emerging. Video conferencing software has made it easier for teams to communicate, and collaborate while working from home or from different locations. Zoom and GoToMeeting are both popular tools that we’ll be comparing today.
Zoom and GoToMeeting are both equipped to meet any organization’s basic video conferencing needs. Both offer high-quality video and audio, along with collaboration features for collaborative virtual meetings.

Functionality & Features Comparison: GoToMeeting vs. Zoom
To start, both apps offer intuitive control panels and dashboards. Some users prefer the easy to navigate UI of GoToMeeting, whereas others enjoy the sleek design of Zoom.
Both GoToMeeting and Zoom offer video conferencing, desktop sharing, whiteboarding among other collaborative tools. In terms of video conferencing specifically, both Zoom and GoToMeeting offer HD video and multiple video feeds. Zoom allows up to 49 webcam displays at one time, compared to the 25 with GoToMeeting.
In addition, Zoom offers some unique video settings. The Touch up my appearance feature applies a softening filter, and a virtual background feature that displays a background image during your meeting.
Pricing: GoToMeeting vs. Zoom
Zoom’s free plan gives you the ability to host up to 100 participants, unlimited one-on-one meetings and host group meetings up to 40 minutes. If you need more than that however, the prices go up dramatically. Zoom charges add-on fees for extra attendees and cloud storage.
With its higher-priced plans, Zoom has a minimum host requirement that GoToMeeting doesn’t have. Pro starts at $20 per month/host with a minimum requirement of 10 hosts—which ends up costing at least $199.90 per month. Enterprise goes up to $27 per month/host.
For companies that only need a few hosts, GoToMeeting might be the better option.
GoToMeeting does not have a minimum host requirement in higher-priced plans. It offers three versions of its software: Starter, Pro, and Plus. GoToMeeting Starter (which, as stated earlier, begins at $14 per month, billed annually) supports up to 10 participants and GoToMeeting Pro (which begins at $29 per month, billed annually) supports up to 150 participants. GoToMeeting Plus (which begins at $39 per month, billed annually) can handle up to 250 participants on a call. The free version of GoToMeeting, offers limited features for up to 50 participants.
