3CX: Linus Tech Tips Hotline

Have you ever had a tech issue that no matter how much online searching you try, you just can’t find the answer?! Wouldn’t it be great if you could just pick up the phone and talk to someone about it…well YouTubers Linus Tech Tips agree. That’s why they set up a 3CX system and let their audience call in to get some support, with some funny twists built-in.

How did they do it?

The LTT team set up their 3CX and made use of the built-in Digital Receptionist feature to create a multi-level automated attendant. You can create a simple or complex call flow all using a drop-down menu system, as there is no limit on the number of levels.

Supported actions include:

  • Ending the call
  • Connecting directly to an extension
  • Forwarding to a ring group and call queue
  • Forwarding to another Digital receptionist to create a multi-level system
  • Transferring the call to voicemail
  • Incorporating the Call Flow Designer

For more information on how to set up a Digital Receptionist, check out the IVR / Auto Attendant guide.

Why did their callers get a busy tone?

3CX licenses are based on a simultaneous call allowance. This means that the system will allow X amount of sim calls at any one time. On top of that, a supported 3rd party SIP provider is chosen and set up on the 3CX. This carrier usually allows X amount of ‘channels’ or virtual phone lines. If these all get used up, the next caller gets unobtainable or a busy tone.

These two factors put together mean that when Linus Tech Tips broadcast the number to their more than 14 million subscribers…well you know the rest.

Try it for Free!

3CX is available free for the first year including hosting with 3CX directly. So why not get an instance up and running using our fully automated process and you too can enjoy the benefits of 3CX today.
