The realities of COVID-19 mean that more and more people are working from home. This may seem simple enough but when videoconferences freeze and electricity is cut, it can be hard to keep your remote workforce united- and productive! In order for businesses to support remote teams, certain tools and policies need to be put in place. Support from business leaders is essential during this time.
Here are some of the processes we’ve implemented to ensure the Nebula team remains accountable, collaborative and productive while we work from home.
Constant communication
We’ve made a Crisis Communication App available to everyone that can be made available via Microsoft365. Using this app, team members can inform their colleagues where they are working from each day. This is done to ensure that everyone is accounted for on a daily basis. The app also serves as a company-wide information sharing and communication platform. In addition to this, we’ve also created WhatsApp group for our entire team and have issued 3G SIMs to those who need them. Open lines of communication and seamless collaboration are critical during a crisis and these channels make it easier for staff to raise any concerns or problems they may have with the HR or IT department.
Outside of Nebula, we’re helping our clients to empower their remote workforce using our cloud-based, technology expense management platform, OneView. Providing a live overview or usage per user, OneView provides the visibility businesses need to let their employees work remotely, without the risks. And by enabling them to identify dormant mobile lines and easily order new SIM cards, the transition to remote work is fuss free.
The value of structure
When working remotely, regular check-ins with your team are a must. Not only because working from home can make people feel isolated but also because decisions still need to be made and regular feedback must be given or received. As part of your work-from-home strategy, be sure to set up “check-ins” where everyone can discuss what they will be doing that day. Reliable video or teleconferencing tools are needed to support this. At Nebula, we are making use of Microsoft Teams to communicate daily.
Successful spaces
On a less technical note, routine is essential. When working from home, you should approach your day in the same way you would approach a day in the office. We’re encouraging our staff to take the time to set up an office space in their homes. And to use this same spot everyday to develop a routine and familiarity.
Staying motivated when everything amid so much uncertainty can be tough. Especially when you’re working on your own. We want to help you bring your teams together by identifying and embracing a smarter way to work. To find out how we can help you enable your remote workforce, simply complete the form below.
