It’s not long until the Skype for Business Online end of service date of 31st July 2021. Cloud Connector Edition (allowing bring your own PSTN on SfB Online) also retires on 31st July 2021. Skype for Business Server lives on, but possibly as a service subscription.
Most Skype for Business Online organisations will have already migrated to Teams, either manually or by Microsoft’s assisted upgrades. Microsoft would choose a date for your assisted upgrade and if you did nothing it would take place, but you could/can also defer it by requesting an extension.
If you haven’t had your upgrade yet, you can still request an extension beyond 31st July. Note your request will need to be approved by Microsoft ahead of the 31st of July. If your assisted upgrade is scheduled for a date after July 31, 2021. Your organization will be able to use Skype for Business Online until your upgrade is complete.
It is worth noting that Related services such as third-party audio conferencing and Skype Meeting Broadcast won’t be extended beyond July 31, 2021.
You can request this in the Teams Admin Center Dashboard https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/dashboard
If you click “Request Extension” you will get a form to complete. The form offers 1,2 or 3 months Unsure/Undecided.
You will then see it is submitted and receive updates from Microsoft via the dashboard.
