PortaSwitch Maintenance Release 84 now available

Speed up call recording conversion, integrate with external call record storage platforms, and manage Internet access speed limits per household – all with the new PortaSwitch MR84. Find out more in the New Features Guide.

Increased call recording performance

The call recording server experiences a high load when your customers (e.g. call centers) use these services during peak hours. As a result, much time is needed for recordings to be converted and become available to users. To speed up call recording conversion, you can now add multiple call recording instances. The load is automatically distributed among separate instances, and so calls are processed faster.

If you have a single call recording server, your PortaSwitch can handle simultaneous recording of up to 800 calls. The call records will be available for download almost immediately after the call is disconnected. If you expect a higher volume of calls to be recorded, simply add call recording instances to ensure a fast conversion. Each additional instance adds 400 concurrent recorded calls to the capacity of the system – so two call recording instances can handle up to 1200 calls, three – 1600, etc.

BENEFITS

Operational agility
Improve call recording performance by adding new instances

Customer experience
Grow customer satisfaction by enabling faster access to call recordings

Integration with external call record storage platforms

Third-party applications are often used to provide extra features for stored call recordings. For example, Call Cabinet is popular for its call encryption options that enhance the security of sensitive data, thereby enabling customers to comply with local regulations (FICA, FAIS, POPI, or CPA). To use such applications, call recordings must be transferred to Call Cabinet and stored there. Now in MR84 call recordings can be exported in bulk to an external storage platform via SFTP. This new feature helps you integrate PortaSwitch with third-party applications that require call recording storage on their side.

BENEFITS

Revenue increase
Grow customer satisfaction by enabling access to external call record applications as a VAS

Calix ONT provisioning in residential gateway mode

You can now set Internet access speed limits per household by provisioning Calix Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) in residential gateway mode. ONTs are user endpoints for Internet access within fiber-based networks. Residential gateway mode enables you to limit bandwidth on the entire ONT, rather than on a specific Ethernet port. This allows you to differentiate speed packages by customer type, e.g. offering 1 Gbps to business and premium customers while allocating only 500 Mbps to residential users.

BENEFITS

Revenue increase
Provide differentiated Internet access packages based on data speed limits
