Gigaset signs up smartphone expert Jörg Wissing

Product management all-rounder to drive B2B expansion

The German telecommunications manufacturer Gigaset has been active in the smartphone segment since 2016. It underpinned its ambitions in the market with the production of the first smartphone “Made in Germany” in 2018. To ensure growth in the B2B segment and new product innovations, the company has now secured the expertise of Jörg Wissing, who is joining Gigaset from ASUS.

With Jörg Wissing, Gigaset is adding an experienced senior product and business development manager to its product house in the smartphones segment. Wissing comes straight from ASUS, and was previously at MAXDATA. At both companies he was active in the field of product management and business development. It is therefore only natural for Gigaset to also want to make use of this expertise for the planned expansion of its smartphone activities with a view to the B2B segment.

“Mr. Wissing’s expertise will help us pursue and achieve our ambitious goals,” says Andreas Merker, VP Smartphones at Gigaset. “As a product management expert with a strong focus on sales and marketing, Mr. Wissing will play a key role between product and marketing. That will not only speed up our internal product development, but also benefit our aim to ensure maximum customer focus.”

Jörg Wissing was responsible from 2008 to 2019 at the well-known computer hardware manufacturer ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) for product management for mobile devices for Germany and Austria. Before that, he worked from 2001 to 2008 at MAXDATA GmbH, one of Europe’s largest IT producers. During his almost 20-year career, Wissing has been responsible for a host of projects in the B2C and B2B field and has excellent connections with mobile operators and numerous institutions in the private and public sector, which he has supported and accompanied during the many projects and tenders.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Jörg Wissing on board as such an experienced and versatile senior product and business development manager to boost our team,” says Anne Dickau, SVP Products at Gigaset. “With his experience and contacts, he will take the team a significant step forward both from a sales perspective and in terms of new marketing ideas.”

Jörg Wissing, born in Marl, Germany in 1971, is an economics graduate and studied economics from 1994 to 2000 at the Ruhr-University Bochum, specializing in marketing as well as planning and organization.
