The hands-free telephone speaker now also streams music
In April 2019, the company presented DECT fixed-line telephony via Amazon Alexa for the first time with the launch of the Gigaset Smart Speaker L800HX. Thanks to its powerful loudspeaker, the voice-controlled hands-free phone with ultra-wide-band voice transmission masters not only all of Alexa’s skills, but is also ideal for music streaming. And now, the L800HX is receiving by means of the Spotify certification its access to the world’s biggest music streaming service.
Spotify, a must-have for smart speakers
“The Spotify certification has always been a major issue for us,” says Jan Moser, the product manager responsible for the L800HX. “Our smart speaker is aimed at a wide audience. By combining telephony with VPA functionalities and full sound quality, we have made our all-rounder as exciting for older people as it is for the young target group aged 16 to 25. But this target group definitely wants Spotify, which is why I am so delighted that we have now been able to integrate this feature thanks to the good collaboration with Spotify.”
Rollout of Spotify integration with next software update
As soon as L800HX users install the latest software update, now available for downloading, Spotify can be used via the Amazon Alexa app and the smart speaker. Spotify gives customers access to around 50 million songs, with the option of either a freemium or premium model – the prerequisite is a corresponding Spotify account.
