GAC Laser International Logistics (GAC Laser) is a proud South African company and one of the largest independent logistics business in the country, providing specialist and value-added services related to import and export clearing, forwarding and international trade. Having offices in each of South Africa’s major ports, GAC Laser serves more than 1,000 locations worldwide.

Using the old analog system for so long, GAC Laser was seeking for a new business communication solution that is easy to deploy, affordable to maintain, and scalable. Given their own situation, they also needed to call between the branches for free; besides, they had many trucks on the road, and checking if the driver is available or not is a necessary. Considered these communication needs, they found that Yeastar UC Solutions were highly suitable for them.

Major Challenges and Objectives

Connect Multi-branches with One Single Communication Solution

It’s a comprehensive project to connect satellite branches that are all across South Africa’s major ports, let alone achieving smooth and effective communication experience. Internal Call Forwarding and Transfer, Select & Dial, Company Contacts… they should be all included in the interbranch connectivity solution.

Monitor On-road Truck Drivers Availability Status and Make Calls When Needed

It’s dangerous when a truck driver picks up a call on the road; it’s also trouble to dial a driver with a long and complex mobile number. To make all drivers connected and managed under one platform, the problems can all be solved. They need to think about how can the admin know if a driver is available for calling and how to quickly give out a dial.

We really care about the truck drivers on the road. We have many of them, and sometimes we need to contact them, but at first we need to make sure they are safe to answer the calls. Now with the Linkus UC Clients, road drivers can take their office extensions on the go and admins can easily check if a driver is available or not with rich and dynamic presence. Plus, the checking by extension groups also made granular management easier.” quoted Tytec, Yeastar certified partner in South Africa.

Replace the Old Analog System and Integrate with Existing Devices

Getting rid of an outdated phone system is never an easy thing. There are many issues to consider. The new phone system should be perfectly integrated with the organizations’ existing Yealink phones and Vlocity SIP Trunks, and enable the least PBX administration to save workload on IT maintenance.

With the help of Tytec, a Channel Partner of Yeastar, 5 Yeastar P550 PBX Systems were smoothly deployed on their satellite branches, weaving an interbranch business connection network. Yeastar P550 PBX also worked perfectly with various models of Yealink IP Phones, making the deployment automatic and even easier. For the truck drivers on the road, each of them download Yeastar Linkus Mobile Client with an extension number, and their status was just a glance-of-issue for the managers.

The Results

Full-featured, cost-saving, scalable, these were what GAC Laser said about Yeastar P-Series PBX System. They didn’t expect their needs could be fulfilled with just one single solution. Thanks to the abundant calling features of Yeastar P-Series PBX System, the communication between different office sites is much more efficient now; with Yeastar Linkus UC Clients, road drivers are always connected and are available at a proper time, just by a simple tap/click-to-dial. Additionally, the scalability of Yeastar P-Series PBX System also allows convenient adjustment to respond to the increase or decrease of personnel.

“This is really a one-stop solution. It’s so robust and powerful that our satellite branches and employees are tightly connected with such simple deployment. What is even more amazing, it’s cost-saving compared with our old phone system. Now we have solved the communication worries, and can focus more on serving our customers.”
