Big new in the unified communication world, Cisco’s Session Border Controllers, the Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) are now certified for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.
This means mainly Cisco shops could now use the existing Session Border Controller to easily setup telephony for Microsoft Teams.
This will also allow “dual forking”, having both a phone from anther PBX (e.g. Cisco Communications Manager) and Teams ring for the same phone number.
The following products running IOS XE Amsterdam 17.2.1r have been certified:
- Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for 1000 Series Integrated Services Routers
- Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers
- Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for 1000V Series Cloud Services Router
- Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers
Thanks to Filipp Seljanko, Senior Program Manager. Real Time Communications. PSTN Direct Routing at Microsoft, for sharing the news.
The official list hasn’t been updated yet, but expect the update soon.
It’s great to see the two big plays in the space working together like this. We await the ability for Microsoft Teams Rooms to connect directly to WebEx meetings and Cisco’s official Cloud video Interop Service to connect their standards-based endpoints to Microsoft Teams meetings. Subscribe to the blog to be updated as soon as these are announced.
