“New breed” Ford Ranger Raptor in South Africa – Price and details

Ford has launched the first-ever Ranger Raptor in South Africa.

The company said the 4×4 bakkie delivers “true Ford Performance DNA” and has exceptional off-road capabilities – setting “a completely new benchmark for the pickup segment”.

The Raptor is powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine which produces 157kW and 500Nm, and is paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Ford said the Ranger Raptor also features 283mm of ground clearance and a 150mm wider track, while its body is made from high-strength steel.

Bespoke suspension and race-developed FOX shock absorbers with “Position Sensitive Damping” then link the BF Goodrich 285/70 R17 all-terrain tyres to the vehicle.

“The Ranger Raptor creates an entirely new breed of exceptionally capable off-road vehicles that pushes the limits in technology, innovation, and driving excitement,” said Ford.

Recommended retail pricing for the Raptor is R786,400. The full model name is the “Ranger Raptor 2.0 BiT 10AT 4×4”.

It includes a 4-year/120,000km warranty and 6-year/90,000km service plan.
