Update 6 Alpha Optimizes Hosting

Update 6 focuses on changes under the hood that make the process of hosting 3CX more manageable and efficient. We have drastically reduced memory usage by 30%, as well as increasing management features to allow for easy handling of large numbers of instances.

What’s more, 3CX plans to roll out a “Hosted by 3CX” option which will allow partners to focus on value-added services instead of the nuts and bolts of deploying 3CX. This is a giant leap forward for 3CX, as with Update 6, partners will be able to offer hosting and management of 3CX instances to all customers!

Preparing for Hosted by 3CX

Built on the private cloud hosting experience obtained in the last 2 years, we’ve been able to make improvements and streamline our features and performance, in preparation for our hosted service. This means:

• Less memory usage allowing us to use smaller instances
• More remote management features
• Streamlined setup of the instance.

Instances that are hosted by 3CX are hosted on renowned and leading cloud providers. These will be announced at a later date.

Focusing on Value

By choosing 3CX to host your installations for you, you no longer need to worry about OS management and updates to the PBX as we will manage all that. No more headaches and time-consuming tasks! We’ll take on that burden so you can focus on value-added services such as training, support, and peripheral hardware sales.

ALL Partners Try it Free

Partners are now able to try out our hosting option (currently in Beta) for their own NFR keys. From your partner portal, select the deploy option and choose “Let 3CX Host”. You can choose to host your test key, production license key, or both! Be sure to let us know what you think. Office 365 Synchronization

3CX Update 6 Alpha includes a re-engineered Office365 sync mechanism to enable better synchronization between users, contacts and calendar status. In previous versions, the synchronization with 3CX was based on the users’ Office365 username. With this update, the sync mechanism also uses the Office365 email, where applicable.

We’ve also added a shared mailbox option to allow contacts in Office 365 to be kept in sync with 3CX Company Phonebook contacts, accessible by all extensions. You can enable this option from within the 3CX Management Console as shown above.

New Windows Client (BETA)

With the Alpha, we’re also releasing an update to our Windows client which includes some minor fixes and improvements.

• Improved the audio conferencing feature to make it more consistent with the web client.
• Improved microphone configuration in Audio Settings
• Improved contact filtering.

Click on “Updates” in the Management Console’s Dashboard, select “v16 Update 6 Alpha” and click on “Download Selected” to install this update on your PBX.
Alternatively, you can get v16 Update 6 Alpha for Windows or Linux:
