Makes these phones provisionable again!
Are you an existing user affected by the removal of provisioning of Yealink T29G, T46G, and T48G models? A new special firmware has been released which will allow you to once again provision these Yealink IP Phone models securely via 3CX.
Why were these phone models removed in the first place?
With Update 5 we had to up the security level of SIP Phone provisioning via HTTP. We had to disable the DHE ciphers which could lead to a D(HE)ater attack. Unfortunately certain end-of-life IP phone models including Yealink models T29G, T46G and T48G could not handle the newer security requirements and because these phones were EOL there was no new firmware available. Therefore these models could no longer be provisioned.
Good news: Here is how to fix it
We acknowledge the vast impact this had on our users and Yealink customers. Following discussions with Yealink, Yealink has released a special firmware version that enables these Yealink phones to be securely provisioned with 3CX once again.
Users with preconfigured T29G, 46G, 48G phones
- Download the latest firmware for your model:
- Upgrade the phone firmware via its web interface. Follow this guide to manually upgrade your firmware.
- The phone can now be rebooted and will be provisionable again.
Unconfigured phones – Wait until in U6
With Update 6 Yealink T29G, T46G and T48G models will once again be supported! This means you will be able to configure them directly through the Web Client / Management Console.
However, you will need to wait until Update 6 for the phones to be listed again.
